WASHINGTON—Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) submitted a claim Tuesday for $2.1 million from the Justice Department’s victim compensation fund, hours after calling it 'a slush fund for the president’s pals.' In his application, Cassidy said losing his Senate primary constituted 'targeted political harm' and requested reimbursement for therapy, campaign debt, and a 'dignity restoration' line item. DOJ spokesperson Chad Bellington confirmed the claim is valid. 'We’re just glad the senator came around,' Bellington said. 'His check is being cut as we speak.'
