WASHINGTON — The State Department confirmed Thursday that rising gasoline prices have been formally reclassified as a “diplomatic irrelevancy.”

Spokesperson Linda Nguyen said the new internal guidance ensures Secretary Rubio’s negotiating posture is “grounded in timeless principle and untethered from transient data points such as the monthly consumer price index for motor fuel.”
